The Mount View Chamber Singers will perform a free concert on Friday, May 18th at 7p at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 496 Lisbon Street in Lisbon Falls.

Comedian Bob Marley returns to the Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar Street in Lewiston on Friday, May 18th at 8p.  Doors open for happy hour at 6:30p.  Tickets are $27.50.  For more information and to purchase tickets, call 689-2000 Monday thru Friday from noon to 4p.

“Maine Innovation Expo” will be held on Saturday, May 19th from 10a-3p at Museum L-A in Bate Mill Complex, 35 Canal Street in Lewiston.  There will be interactive exhibits of innovative products & processes created by area businesses & students.  It’s free to the public.

Maine Music Society Chorale presents “Favorites from the Great American Songbook” on Saturday, May 19th at 7:30p and Sunday, May 20th at 3p at the Franco Center, 46 Cedar Street in Lewiston.  They will perform jazzy sounds of Gershwin & Porter.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for Seniors & $10 for students, and they can be purchased at the door.  For advanced tickets, call 333-3386 Monday thru Friday from 10a-2p.

“Empty Bowls Supper”, to benefit Trinity Jubilee Center, will be held Sunday, May 20th from 4:30-6:30p at the First Universalist Church on 169 Pleasant Street in Auburn.  The supper is free with the purchase of pottery crafted by local artisans.

The Annual Hospice House 5k & Remembrance Walk to benefit the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is happening Sunday, May 20th at 9a in Jalbert Hall at Central Maine Community College on 1250 Turner Street in Auburn.  Registration begins at 7:30a.  The fee is $30.

Androscoggin Bank Run For Independence is going on Sunday, May 20th at 8:15a at Brunswick Junior High School, 65 Columbia Street.  You can register at runinarace.com.

The Travis Mills Foundation will once again team up with the Gendron Franco Center on Thursday, May 24th at 7:30p for a special tribute concert and reception to honor Maine’s veterans, happening in the Heritage Hall, 46 Cedar Street in Lewiston.  Doors and bar open at 6:30p.  It’s free to the public, however, donations will be accepted.  For more information, call 783-1585.

The Auburn Recreation Department is hosting a “Paddle for Waggles” Pickleball Jamboree to benefit the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society on Saturday, May 26th at 9a at Norway Savings Bank Arena, 985 Turner Street in Auburn.  Registration fee is $20.

A Bean Supper will be held Saturday, May 26th from 5-6p at the Lisbon United Methodist Church on 14 School St. in Lisbon Falls. There will be homemade baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, ham, hot dogs, pies and more. Costs $8 for adults, $3 for children and free for children 5 and under.

“Knitting Knights” will be held every other Wednesday from 5-6:30p in the Jeanne Couture Room at the Lewiston Public Library on 200 Lisbon Street.  All ages and skill levels are welcome, and no registration is required.  Library staff will be available to teach new knitters.  Bottled water and hot tea will be provided, and some supplies are available for beginners.  For more information, call 513-3135.

The Thread Theater at the Franco Center, 46 Cedar St. in Lewiston is holding performances every third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm.  Admission is $5 per person.  For more information, call 783-1585 Monday thru Friday from Noon - 4 pm.

If you’re unemployed, age 55 plus, & looking for work, contact the Senior Community Service Employment Program today at 520-2487, ext 252.  The Associates For Training & Development will set you up with an appointment for an opportunity to train for available jobs.

Seniors Plus in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association have monthly support group meetings, designed to provide emotional, educational, and social support for people in the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease or another form of dementia.  They will be held at Seniors Plus on 8 Falcon Road in Lewiston.  There’s no fee but pre-registration is required.  For more information about dates and time or to register, call 1-800-427-1241, ext 3728.

Blood Drives

  • Saturday, May 12th, from 9 am - 2 pm at Grace Lutheran Church on 757 Summer Street in Auburn
