The Community Little Theatre presents Mel Brook’s “Young Frankenstein” on Friday & Saturday, August 17th & 18th at 8p and Sunday, August 19th at 2p at Great Falls Performing Arts Center, 30 Academy Street in Auburn. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased online at www.laclt.com.

The Chocolate Church Arts Center presents, duo “Red Beans & Rice” in concert singing the Blues on Saturday, August 18th from 6-7:30p at Waterfront Park on Commercial Street in Bath. It’s free to the public.

Summer Fun & Films Program, presented by the Lewiston Police Department and Gendron’s Franco Center, continues Wednesday, August 22nd at 6p at Drouin Field next to the Colisee on 190 Birch Street in Lewiston. There will be activities up until the start of the movie “The Black Panther” at dusk. It’s free to the public.

The 4th annual “Frank Glazer Memorial Steinway Concert” will be held at the Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar Street in Lewiston on Thursday, August 23rd at 7p.  Doors and bar open at 6p.  It’s free to the public.  For more information, call 783-1585.

Gypsy Lew Theatre & the Lewiston Public Library presents, William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing”.  The show will be performed outdoors on Thursday, August 23rd thru Sunday, August 26th at 7p in Dufresne Plaza on 72 Lisbon Street in Lewiston.  This is a free performance in which you’ll need to bring your own blankets and chairs. 

The Chocolate Church Arts Center presents steel drum band “Pan Fried Steel” in concert on Saturday, August 25th from 6-7:30p at Waterfront Park on Commercial Street in Bath. It’s free to the public.

A Bean Supper will be held Saturday, August 25th from 5-6p at the Lisbon United Methodist Church on 14 School St. in Lisbon Falls. There will be homemade baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, ham, hot dogs, pies and more. Costs $8 for adults, $3 for children and free for children 5 and under.

Museum L/A is hosting a “Family Heirloom Preservation” workshop on
Saturday, August 25 th from 10a-3p in the Bates Mill at 35 Canal Street in

The Lewiston Education Fund is proud to announce its 9th annual Harvest Reception & Tasting on Wednesday, October 17th at Fish Bones American Grill, 70 Lincoln Street, Mill 6 in Lewiston.  There will be a five-course dinner with wine pairings, a door prize, raffles and silent auction.  It’s $75 a ticket.  To purchase tickets and for more information, go to squareup.com/store/lewiston-education-fund

“Knitting Knights” will be held every other Wednesday from 5-6:30p in the Jeanne Couture Room at the Lewiston Public Library on 200 Lisbon Street.  All ages and skill levels are welcome, and no registration is required.  Library staff will be available to teach new knitters.  Bottled water and hot tea will be provided, and some supplies are available for beginners.  For more information, call 513-3135.

If you’re unemployed, age 55 plus, & looking for work, contact the Senior Community Service Employment Program today at 520-2487, ext 252.  The Associates For Training & Development will set you up with an appointment for an opportunity to train for available jobs.

Seniors Plus in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association have monthly support group meetings, designed to provide emotional, educational, and social support for people in the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease or another form of dementia.  They will be held at Seniors Plus on 8 Falcon Road in Lewiston.  There’s no fee but pre-registration is required.  For more information about dates and time or to register, call 1-800-427-1241, ext 3728.

Blood Drives

The American Red Cross is calling on all donors.  There’s an emergency need for blood or platelets as there is an EXTREME shortage this summer.   • Friday, August 31st from 11a-4p at Flagship Cinema, 730 Center Street in Auburn
